Portland, San Jose Battle to Draw

Under the rain and lights, the Timbers conclude their second MLS season with a 1-1 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes after a Bright Dike equalizer in the 67th minute.
Entering the game, Earthquakes Forward Chris Wondolowski sat on 26 goals for the season, one shy of the single-season record set by Roy Lassiter in 1996 with the Tampa Bay Mutiny.

He had the opportunity to tie the record in the 24th minute on a penalty kick after Donovan Ricketts fouled Steven Lenhart in the box.

Wondolowski would be successful on his attempt, finding the lower, left-hand corner off the net to give San Jose a 1-0 lead.

Portland would equalize in the 67th minute when Bright Dike found the back of the net from close-range after recovering his own shot deflection.

Wondolowski was unable to get any more shots on goal to claim the record for his own.

The draw also marks the first time on the season the Earthquakes did not leave with three points when leading at half. They were 12-0-0 entering the game.

The Timbers finish 8-16-10 on the season.
