Marc J. Spears and Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports make up the best NBA reporting team that you can find on the planet.  Spears was kind enough to make a return trip on Flight 750 Tuesday to talk about all the big stories in the NBA.

Spears says that even with the success of teams like the Grizzlies, Warriors and Clippers, he expects the Western conference finals to come down to the Spurs and the Thunder once again.

“I would say Oklahoma City still has the edge.  They’ve got the fire.  They’ve got the youth.  They’ve got the experience to get back.  I think Derek Fisher helps them, much to Dallas’ chagrin…Right now I’d say the Western Conference finals will be – and I know I’m really going out on a limb here – it will likely be Oklahoma City and San Antonio again.

Although he expects the Western conference finals to consist of San Antonio and Oklahoma City, he says to be very cautious of Denver.

“They’ve just got so many weapons.  They have a great bench – guys like Chandler, Andre Miller – They’re so deep that a guy like Timofey Mozgov, a guy who can start for most teams, doesn’t even play.  That’s the one thing about the Nuggets.  They have scorers, they have depth, they have size, they just don’t have a Melo-type.”

Spears also talked about the Lakers.  Although they have been a mess most of the season, he still expects them to find a way to make the playoffs.

“I think a lot of it is just getting used to what D’Antoni is doing and getting rid of all the garbage.  They had their pow wow.  It seems like ever since they had that, they’ve been more on the same page, no more Hollywood Soap Opera drama.  And maybe the last silly straw was Dwight Howard’s dad killing the coach.  Despite the recent loss to Denver, they’ve been playing pretty well and they’ve been competitive.”

Take a listen to the interview and be sure to check out Spears’ and Wojnarowski’s NBA work with Yahoo! Sports.  It really is amongst the best that you will find.
