Shootout in Silverton

Shots rang out Monday afternoon at the Silver Spur RV Park in Silverton. Oregon State Police and the Marion County Sheriffs deputies responded to the scene after a man was shot and others were targeted. Investigators say the suspect took cover behind a picnic table and shot at authorities.

The owners of the RV Park believe the man to be a former resident. They say they have contacted police several times over the last ew weeks because they have been harassed by him and knew he had access to guns. The suspect who carried a rifle and hand gun died of his injuries after being airlifted to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center.
