Guns Stolen in Brazen Burglary

April 22, 2013, 3:54 pm

A thief was busy early this morning at the Damascus Bi-Mart on Highway 212, cutting their way through the roof to get into a manager's office. They took a key to the safe and loaded up with several guns before fleeing.

The crime happened under the cover of darkness just after 1:00am. An alarm alerted sheriff's deputies who got there in two minutes. It's believed the crook was likely still inside, but managed to get away on foot, despite a police dog being hot on their trail.

The store is taking inventory to determine how many guns and what kind were ripped off.

Police are looking into whether a former or current employee was involved, since they knew where to find the keys.
