Charlie Sitton Honored By Pac-12

The Pac-12 conference has a rich history and tradition of being a powerhouse in men's college basketball. UCLA dominated in the 60's and 70's with teams led by such legends as Lew Alcindor and Bill Walton. Arizona showed dominance under coach Lute Olsen and schools such as Oregon and Oregon State had stretches of success. Beavers basketball legend Charlie Sitton joined John Canzano on The Bald Faced Truth to talk about his career and the Pac-12.

Charlie Sitton was a key player on the Beavers team that reached the Elite-8 of the 1982 NCAA Tournament that saw a Patrick Ewing led Georgetown team take Oregon State down 69-45.

"I think what made us successful is kind of what happens in all programs at Oregon State is if you have a nucleus of kids from the state of Oregon I think when push comes to shove and the game's on the line I think the kids from Oregon step up and it means more to them," Sitton said of the success of his teams at OSU.

"I took trips to Duke and Notre Dame and UCLA," Sitton said on the schools he visited. "But it was pretty easy to stay at Oregon State I mean heck they had a good nucleus of players and they were ranked in the top ten at the time and there was kind of a spot there for me so it was a pretty easy decision actually."

Charlie Sitton also talks with John Canzano during the interview about his experience playing alongside Michael Jordan in the 1983 Pan American Games.
