Buck Williams Gives Thoughts on Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers have seen a success in two different eras of the franchise. The first era of success came during the Jack Ramsay coached team that featured Bill Walton which captured the 1977 NBA Championship. The second era of success for the Blazers came during the Clyde Drexler led teams of the mid-80's to early 90's which saw the team reach the NBA Finals two times. Buck Williams, a member of the Blazers teams that made the finals with Drexler joined John Canzano on The Bald Faced Truth.

Buck Williams played basketball at a high level all throughout his career in which he was able to get selected to the NBA All-Star game three times while a member of the New Jersey Nets.

"1986 was probably the most memorable one I think it was in Dallas, no L.A when Marvin Gaye sang the National Anthem. And that's what sort of sticks out in my memory because it was so unique and no one has done it to that level since and that was something I'll never forget," Williams said in response to which all-star appearance he remembered the most.

The United States boycotted the 1980 Summer Olympics which denied hundreds of athletes the opportunity to compete for gold medals. One athlete in particular was Buck Williams.

"I went out and tried out for the team and I really thought I didn't make the team I had a good tryout, I played very well a lot of great players out there. And I got on the plane and I was flying home and when I got home I found out I made the team." Williams said of making the Olympic squad.

Buck Williams and John Canzano also discuss Greg Oden and the current roster the Portland Trail Blazers are fielding on the court.
