Oregon Zoo Elephant Calf Lily Officially Ours

The Oregon Zoo announced Friday that they have officially purchased both two elephants from California based Have Trunk will travel.

Through private funds, they bought Lily, the calf of Rose Tu; and the 13,000 pound adult bull Tusko.

The purchase ends speculation that the young calf born at the zoo might be taken from her mother.

"Lily's living arrangements were never in question," said Kim Smith, zoo director.  "But this makes it official:  Lily will live her life with her family herd, the way elephants should."
