Unregistered Republicans Picking Our Candidates
Allen Alley, who sometimes fills in on the show, is also the Chairman of the Oregon GOP. We had some quick small talk about the GOP debate here in Oregon before I asked him about why we are letting non-party members take part in choosing the candidates for the Republican primary. This question sparked a hot debate for the rest of the hour, with some people even saying that Allen Alley is unfit to lead the the Oregon GOP.
I just have to wonder why our party would be willing to let non-party members take part in the choosing of candidates. Beyond that, though, what motivation does someone have who is unaffiliated to choose a candidate for someone's party?
I gave caller John in Sherwood a chance to voice his concerns to Allen. While I was inclined to agree with John's call, I wanted to give Allen a chance to further explain.
