The Road to Recovery

He almost lost his life last October in a fight, and now he's fighting to regain
his independence. 21-year old Tyler Burton was struck in the back of the head in Chico California and suffered sever brain swelling after he hit his head against the concrete. Burton was once a football player, dancing through tackles and sprinting down the field. Now he's just trying to get up and walk across the room. Doctors were able to save his life, but he is left with severe brain damage. Recovery time is expected to be beyond three years. Burton is finally home after several months of intense hospital care and physical therapy.

“He's coaching me to walk again, which sounds kind of funny - coaching me how to walk,” said Burton to our news partner KGW in an exclusive interview.

Doctors at OHSU call his recovery as "miraculous".
