Don't Tax The Timber Counties
I had Greg Walden come on to talk about the environmental groups who seem to have a lot of sympathy for the trees being cut down in Oregon. This is the industry Oregon is known for. Congressman Walden has been working with other Republicans in the house to put together a bipartisan bill to help these timber counties that are about to go bankrupt, but without the bill even having been introduced, it is meeting incredible opposition. I don't think any of us should be surprised when we talk about the timber industry and liberals in the same breath. They're talking about tripling the tax on the property in high unemployment counties and moving all the forests from one federal agency to another, which they claim will save money.
As Congressman Walden put it, "you can have your opinion and you can have FACTS." I'd like you to hear the facts.
