Cascadia Craziness

The 2013 Cascadia Cup is off to an exciting start. Trailing by a goal the majority of the game, Rodney Wallace equalizes the game in the 90th minute when he buried a header in the upper right-hand corner of the net.

For the third time in three games this season, Portland found themselves playing from behind most of the game.

Like the New York game, though, Portland was able to storm back to force a tie and escapes Seattle with one point.

The Sounders got on the board in the 13th minute when Steve Zakuani curled a cross from the left sideline right onto the boot of Eddie Johnson who tapped in the goal.


Seattle would carry the 1-0 lead into the half and the majority of the second.

Portland struggled all game to get decent looks and after recording 20+ shots the first two games, was only able to get off 13 shots against the Sounders.

Of those 13, only two were on target, but one of those came from Rodney Wallace in the 90th minute.

Andrew Jean-Baptiste booted in a soft lob to Wallace who used his head to put the ball in the upper-left corner past Sounders keeper Michael Gspurning, who stood motionless on the line as the play unfolded.
