Ducks Remain Perfect in Pac-12 Play

The Ducks used a fast start and a steady finish to complete the sweep of the Los Angeles schools Saturday afternoon at Pauley Pavilion.

Dominic Artis, Carlos Emory, and Damyean Dotson each hit threes in the opening couple minutes and Oregon found themselves ahead 11-7 early over the Bruins.

The hot shooting would cool a little bit as the teams traded back the lead often, and neither could quite establish a lead over the other.

The largest lead in the first was held by UCLA, when a Shabazz Muhammad jumper put the Bruins up six with 33 seconds left. E.J. Singler would respond with a three at the halftime buzzer, and the lead was quickly cut in half.

The second-half was much like the first, where neither team could establish much rhythm or momentum. 

However, when a Tony Woods FT put the Ducks up 47-46 with 12 minutes remaining, Oregon would not relinquish the lead the rest of the game.

Woods and Arsalan Kazemi were crucial for the Ducks, controlling the paint and propelling Oregon to a 38-28 advantage on the glass. Eleven of those rebounds were of the offensive type, with the majority of them coming courtesy of Kazemi. 

Clutch free throw shooting in the final minute by Artis, Singler, and Dotson would balloon the Ducks' lead out to nine, the largest of the game, and prevent the Bruins from making any comeback.

Woods lead the Ducks with 18 points, while Artis added 14 and Dotson 11.

Kazemi had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Kyle Anderson was the most effective Bruin, notching 10 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Shabazz Muhammad, who came off the bench for being late to Friday's practice, had 10 points.

Oregon is 15-2 (5-0) on the year now and returns to Matt Court to face the Washington schools.

The Cougars visit Wednesday, while the Huskies (the only other unbeaten team in Pac-12 play) visits Saturday.
