NORAD scrambled two F-15 fighter jets to intercept Alaska Airlines Flight 819 with service to Seattle after someone called the FBI and made hijack claims. The flight left Kona Hawaii Thursday late afternoon. The jets departed from the Portland Air Base and stayed with the plane until it landed. During the flight the cockpit was secured and the suspected hijacker was identified and monitored for the rest of the flight. After touchdown at Sea-Tac the man was detained and questioned by the FBI and port authorities. No threat of danger was found and the call is being considered a hoax. None of the passengers were made aware of the situation and they told NBC in Seattle that they were unaware anything was wrong, and that the flight crew remained in control.
