Man's Body Found in the Clackamas River

Friends on the shore holding out hope

Divers found the body of a 23-year-old man in the Clackamas River today after his inner tube got separated from his friends last night. Fernando Ortega Becerra, also known as Ivan, was last seen swimming towards the tube and was not believed to be a strong swimmer. He was not wearing a life jacket when he disappeared upriver from Carver Park.

Authorities didn't know if Becerra got out of the water, so they searched the shoreline and the water near the Barton Boat Ramp. His body was found in 15' feet of water about 600' from where he was last seen.

The water temperature is said to be in the upper 50's with decent visibility.
