It takes the perfect storm to create a lasting television show in today's society. With a blend of great writing and acting,
NBC's "Parks and Recreation" has become one of the most successful and popular television show. Actor Nick Offerman joined John Canzano on The Bald Faced Truth to talk about the show and his many other projects.
Becoming an actor happens for people in many different ways, Nick comments on how he first got into the profession.
"I grew up really in a very small town in Illinois and I never knew all the way through high school I could get a job in arts. Everything seems impossibly far away, it wasn't on my radar I could go to college and study towards getting work in film. But I definitely loved making people laugh and then I found out you could study theater and go to Chicago and work in live theater and get paid for it so I said holy cow that's what I'm gonna do."
Nick plays the character of Ron Swanson on the hit TV show "Parks and Recreation". Nick talked about Ron's super powers.
"Ron has some super power qualities attributed to him on the show and people mistakenly think I share that I share the same qualities. At a restaurant for example if I order a steak they'll give me the 3lb cut with a 1lb of bacon on top of it, look over and the guy in the kitchen gives me a thumbs up (laughing) and I just think if I eat this I will die but thank you. So I eat a third of it and stick the rest in my pocket and try to tell them I polished it off."
John and Nick also talk about his upcoming projects and the
Offerman Woodshop where he and his staff hand crafts pieces of art.
